Dr. Unsdorfer did my bunion surgery over 8 years ago. It still looks and feels great! He was came highly recommended and now I know why.

I am a registered nurse working in the recovery room at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. When I needed bunion surgery, the operating room nurses recommended Dr. Unsdorfer. The surgery on my right foot went so well, I had my left foot done soon thereafter. I could not be happier with the results.

I had postponed having bunion surgery for a long time, fearing that the operation would leave me in worse shape than I was already in. It wasn't until a friend of mine suggested going and talking to the Podiatrist that she worked for, that I reconsidered. She told me she had bunion surgery done by her employer, Dr. Unsdorfer, and was very pleased with her operation. She now enjoys walking, dancing, and just being able to wear normal shoes without the pain. With a little anxiety....I decided to talk to Dr. Unsdorfer. I found him to be very personable and very knowledgeable. He found that my right foot was in pretty bad shape,a large bunion had resulted from a bone on the side of my foot shifting out, which then caused my big toe to push all of my toes to the right. He admitted this was a complicated case, but not only did he have the confidence that he could correct my foot, but that it would allow me to get back into normal shoes and be without that horrible bunion pain. He told me I would not only have to have the bunion removed, but I would have to have an extensive realignment of my other toes, including removing some of the joints to straighten out the toes. He told me that "temporary metal pins" would be put into the toes to keep them in place while they healed. With that in mind....I took a breath....and made the arrangements to have the surgery done. It not only went exactly the way he said it would, it went even better! He told me I would probably have some pain for a few weeks, but I hardly had any pain at all. Not only no pain on the day of the surgery, but very little pain in the days to follow. I did not take any pain medication on the first day. The second day toward the evening I took one pain pill, only because I thought the pain would get worse that night, but it never did. On the fourth night following surgery, again toward evening, I expected the pain to get worse, so I took another pain pill, but again it did not get any worse. In the days to come I was virtually pain free. I only found that sometimes turning over in bed at night, I would feel a little pain. I would readjust my foot (on a raised pillow) and go right back to sleep. I never lost any sleep because of any pain. He told me to keep off of my foot for at least 8 weeks. I found a walker with a seat, and that really did the trick. I put my knee up on the seat while pushing with my good foot, and I was very self sufficient in my house that way. I was able to cook and do some cleaning, including vacuuming. I did rely on my Mom and some friends to drive me to the store or to doctor appointments (because the surgery was on my driving foot). I had heard from other people, that with this surgery, the "pin" removal was very painful. Dr. Unsdorfer assured me that when the foot had healed enough, the pins would come right out. After a few weeks, one by one, he removed the pins. He was absolutely right. They came right out. What I feared the most, severe pain, never happened. A little pinch, and I mean little, and the pins were out. I really believe he is blessed to do what he does. I will not have any reservation about having my other foot done. Dr. Unsdorfer is not only a kind and gentle doctor, but a highly skilled surgeon. He is truly a credit to his profession.

After years of dealing with ingrown toenails and pain, I was forced to overcome my fears and find another doctor to take care of my problem. My previous encounters with different physicians was dreadful. When I first called Agape Podiatry, I could immediately tell that I would have a much better experience at this practice than I had at previous ones. Upon meeting Dr. Unsdorfer, I instantly felt calm and at ease about my situation. After further consultation, Dr. Unsdorfer decided I would need staged procedures to correct my problem. With each procedure, he explained what he would do, in detail, so I understood what was happening and how to care for my foot post-procedure. I am pleased with the end result and my experience at Agape Podiatry was very positive. I now actually look forward to going to the podiatrist. I would highly recommend Dr. Unsdorfer to anyone who is in need of a knowledgeable and skilled surgeon.
